Friendship Baptist Church is blessed to have a leadership team who are truly dedicated to Christ and seeking Him. Following are brief bio's of our staff leadership team and their qualifications for ministry and our Deacon Team.
Jim Huston
Pastor
Born and raised in NE Ohio, Jim is the son of a pastor, and began his own ministry in 1991 as a youth pastor. Overall, Jim has served 9 churches in Ohio and Georgia before becoming the Senior Pastor at Friendship Baptist Church in 2021.
In 1992, Jim married his wife Carolyn, and they have 3 grown boys and 5 grandchildren that they enjoy spending time with. They have lived in Cartersville, GA since 2001 and Jim is a teacher at Cass High School.
Jim earned undergraduate degrees at Logos Christian College and Hobe Sound Bible College, and earned a Master’s degree from Georgia State College & University.
Marc Vosburgh
Youth Pastor
Marc was born and raised here in Cartersville, GA. He grew up in the church and accepted the Lord in 9th grade. he felt the calling to go into the Ministry just before his 12th grade year in high school. He graduated from Cartersville High School in 1998 and went on to Reinhardt College. He first became a full time youth minister at age 20. After a few years, he became more involved in mission work and traveling overseas to spread the Gospel. He has traveled to over 15 countries. He believes that as long as you show everyone who Jesus is and let them fall in love with Him, everything else will fall into place. Marc has served as Youth Pastor at Friendship since 2022.
Tina Cooper
Children's Ministry Director
Tina joined the staff of Friendship as the Children's Ministry Director in November of 2023. She has an extensive history in ministering to children and has volunteered in numerous roles since 2003. Tina and her husband Joey have 4 children: one grown son, and three daughters of elementary age. In her spare time she enjoys being with her family outdoors and planning the next event for the children to enjoy. She considers it a privilege to be chosen and used by Jesus.
Amanda Hatfield
Music Director
Amanda is a lifetime local to Cartersville. Amanda holds an Associate's and Bachelor's Degree of Science and has worked for Anheuser-Busch for 25 years, currently serving as a Quality Assurance Analyst. She proudly serves in the United States Army Reserve as a combat/flight paramedic. As a child, she grew up in church, attending several local congregations prior to coming to Friendship. She started attending Friendship when she was 12. Having begun piano lessons as a first grader, she sang and played piano during service. She was saved at age 8 and was baptized on Easter Sunday. She left Friendship for a period of about 10 years and attended another local congregation, before returning to Friendship to obey God's calling on her life in 2013. Amanda played as the pianist until 2020 when she also became the Music Director and has served since. She considers her struggles and life a living testimony and witness to others to come to their Saving Grace through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She tries to live by Ephesians 6:10-20 and Hebrews 13:1-2. She is married to Jerome Hatfield and has 2.5 boys, Mikey, Gabe, and Eli (part of the time).
Ryan Miller
IT Coordinator
Born and raised in Dalton, GA, Ryan was in church from the time her parents could take her out of the house as a baby. She was baptized at age 15 at youth camp and graduated from Boyd-Buchanan High School in Chattanooga, TN. She attended Harding University in Searcy, AR for a year as a music major, before changing her major to nursing and moving home. She graduated with her Associates Degree as a Registered Nurse in 2003, and later obtained her Paramedic Certification in 2005. She has been a Critical Care RN working in post-op open heart surgery recovery, ER, flight nursing, and as a paramedic. Ryan returned to school later and obtained her Bachelor's of Science in Information Technology, Software Engineering in 2013. In 2015, she went to work for GE Healthcare, where she is currently employed as a Clinical Application Specialist, training nurses and doctors to use technology to better care for people. After having not been in church for a long period of time, Ryan realized that she needed Jesus more than ever. In July of 2021, she began attending Friendship and rededicated her life to Christ and His work. She became involved in the church very quickly, first in the Music Ministry as the guitarist, and then assisting with technology needs as necessary. In 2022, she was invited to take on the role of IT Coordinator for the church, where she now continues to serve to meet the technological needs of the congregation and reach the community and world for Christ. Her primary goal in ministry is to use the knowledge God gave her and the technology available to us to to reach people and follow the command of Christ in Matthew 28:19-20 to "go therefore and make disciples of all the nations..."
Ennis Denham
Church Secretary
Serving as our Office Administrative Assistant is Mr. Ennis P Denham Jr. In 1979, Ennis graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi, BS Degree with honors, before relocating to Georgia. Ennis has worked in an accounting role as an internal auditor, inventory control, and cost accountant, as well as having owned his own business.
Ennis is actively involved in the Cartersville community. He served on the Cartersville City Council for 15 years, has been a member of the Kiwanis Club of Cartersville for over 32 years, serves on the Salvation Army Board of Directors (second term), and has been a member of Friendship for over 21 years where he serves as a deacon. He and his wife, Dale, have four adult daughters and 5 grandchildren. Dale is active at Friendship as well.
